Maple's Surgery

We ended up taking Maple to get surgery on her torn ligament Wednesday. Poor girl. She is doing pretty well considering. They made the cast festive and put a tree on it even. We took the cast off this morning (Sunday) because it was starting to cut off circulation sliding down her leg. It is all shaved and she has quite a few stitches, but it doesn't look so bad. She seems like she is using the leg a little bit more each day. In 5 more days she should be able to take some normal walks. Right now we are kind of ripping Maya off on walks since we feel too guilty leaving Maple behind!

You can see what our military housing looks like. Pretty nice actually and we made an IKEA trip Friday night and made the place even homier with some pillows, throws, and bed stuff for the guest room. And soon we'll get a shipment from the US full of baby stuff (crib, clothes, rocker, stroller, etc) so we can be all ready. People keep thinking I am having the baby any day (and have been for the last month). Well, I have until 5 February!

Two weekends ago we visited Innsbruck for the Christmas Market and the entire city was so nicely decorated and festive! We ate chocolate covered fruits and goulash and wandered all around. The city seemed mostly full of Italians, not surprising since Innsbruck is only 30 mins or so from the Italian border.

It is raining out right now. Blah. All our nice snow destroyed. We would have tons of snow if it hadn't warmed up this weekend. Only 4 more days until Christmas!!! Hope to post again before then. If not, Merry Christmas everyone!

  1. Oh, poor Maple girl. She looks so pitiful! I'm glad to hear she is getting better, though. You new place looks really nice and the town is so cute and quaint. I guess that is Innsbruck. Merry Christmas to you both. Check your email if you can. I sent you a letter.
    Love you both,
    Julie

  2. I'm so sorry to hear about Maple. I hope that she recovers well. I hope that all is well and that you guys have a happy holiday. I'm kicking it in Louisville with Ashley and her family. I'm heading to the dirty south for some bouldering in a couple days. Can't wait. I miss you guys. Kiss Maple on the head for me.
