Boston Weekend

Well, I have let another month slip by without posting. Lots of news. The biggest is that we are getting a restaurant called Red River Rockhouse http://www.redriverrockhouse.com/ up and running with our friends Tina, Aaron, August, and Chad down in the Red River Gorge that we hope to open in March. Frank spent the last 2 weeks down there working on the place, taking out chimneys, building new roofs, walls, etc. So, I decided to take a trip during the madess up to Boston to visit Jacob, Missy, and Cole with Cooper!

We had a great time! Just wanted to keep it easy and stress free, but that is hard to do in a city with too many people, however, we managed at least a few times to kick back and laugh lots. I flew there on Thursday morning early, and was greeted by the whole clan! Missy had to go to work but Jacob and I did the parks by there house with the boys. They have great parks all within 2 blocks, with huge old oak trees and rich awesome northeastern homes. Nice neighborhood. I was envious of the parks all within walking distance. In suburbia Lexington, where we live, you have to walk about a mile under I-75 to get to a park. Mostly, we drive. The parks all are unique, with so many fun things for the kids. Sand boxes, water fountains for them to run through, fire engine trucks, etc. The boys hit it off right away. They are both so similar in where they are developmentally, the benefit of us having them only 3 days apart! And they have a reservoir right near them to for nice walks/runs!

Friday we drove to Salem for a pinic near the beach and watched the boys chase seagulls. Very nice, and we lucked out on the weather. We walked all around the cute town and tried to do the museum there that was free that day, but both boys started crying by that point and were so tired, so we decided to leave and stopped at a famous pizza place on the way back to grab dinner. We were going to eat inside, but Cooper and Cole did not want to sit, and the waiters were not the friendliest and didn't enjoy us dancing/running around the room, so we got it to go. Definetly a different breed of people in Boston then Kentucky. Blunt and busy.

Saturday we went climbing behind a mall just a mile down the road from their house. Really great bouldering for right in the city! Tucked away in a forest with a pond. What a great find! I would be there all the time if I lived there. Lots of potential. I think it was called Hammond Pond? We all got up a few problems and the boys had a great time trying to climb as well.

Sunday we did Frog Pond and the Boston Commons/Gardens. The boys had a lot of fun running around in the pond in diapers, which is actually a large pool of water only 6 inches deep with lifeguards.

Here are some pictures from the fun weekend together!

  1. Wow, very exciting news! Congratulations! So, will you serve schnitzel and knodel and sauerbraten? That is awesome that you guys are doing this! Cooper is getting huge. What a cute kid! He looks nothing like Frank ;)
