The Sun Shines Bright

On My Old Kentucky Home.....
Back home again. Just finished a nice 12 day trip home (although 2 of those were travel days) to Kentucky for Missy and Jacobs wedding. It was wonderful, as expected, but went by so fast! I'll recap some.

First things first, our flight was awesome!!! We flew standby on Jacob's Buddy passes which I was so stressed about for weeks before flying. We were able to upgrade to first class for only $100 each! It was amazing. I was giddy the whole time. Mimosas when we sat down, a meal card with actual entree selections and appetizers and dessert, served on real china and real silverware. But the seat was really the best, it layed all the way out and I could actually sleep. We were in heaven.

Once in Cincinnati, the madness began :) Tiff and Hannah had already arrived, and Jordan and Rachael flew in on the same flight as Frank and me. Our family had not been all together since our wedding in 2004, so it was really great catching up.

Thursday and Friday were pamper Missy days with pedicures and manicures, massages, and painting at Mad Potter and lunch at Malones. Saturday was the wedding day which was pretty darn busy and a bit stressful, but well worth it. The wedding was outside at Talon Vineyard and the clouds were awesome, but the wind was a bit harsh. 200 people attended! Good times. Jacob cried at the ceremony several times which was very cute, as did a few of the groomsmen. We ladies held it together, partly because we were worried about our dresses flipping up!

Sunday was send off day which was hard, because I felt like I barely talked with anyone at all. Monday and Tuesday Frank and I headed to the Red to climb with Missy and Jacob and stayed with them at their honeymoon cabin. It was great, we were right at Torrent and could walk about 25 steps to climb on my favorite 11s in the entire Red. We ate Miguel's, drank beer, and had a great time.
We didn't squeeze in shopping as I hoped, but did get to visit a bit with the Byron's and watch the new Indian Jones movie and eat out a whole lot. Friday morning, we went to the gorge to climb again! 4 days was a record for me on a trip home I think! We stayed in an awesome cabin at Lago Linda overlooking the lake with a hot tub! The boys (Ray, Jeremiah and Frank) went off and all 3 sent their 5.13 project while Michelle and I did all kinds of cool new warm up routes for me, and she sent her 5.12d project second go!! So, lots of cheering and praising and partying that night.
Saturday flew by. We ate at the cabin huge omelette's courtesy of Michelle, then grilled out with the Byron's for lunch, then ate Cheesecake Factory for Dinner with my parents!! I think I am now 5 pounds heavier than when I left.
We're home now and it is HOT here. Not sure what happened to our spring. It is in the 80s and we have no air conditioning at work or home over here in Germany. Heading off to climb tonight and get back into our routine. Sure do miss everyone already though...

The beautiful wedding photos are thanks to Wes Allen's Radical Angles Photography.
