And we wait.

For you know who to make an appearance...

It seems it has been quite a while since we have done a proper update to this little bloggy blog. Its so easy to get behind. Where to start?

The baby of course! We'll he's still not out yet, don't get that idea. Although Mandy is very, very ready for it to come. She is uncomfortable, and sore and not sleeping and just ready to be on the road to recovery. And I am ready for her to be as well. And we're both super excited to get him out and see what the heck he looks like and welcome him into the world! The last time we went to the doctor he said everything looks good, he's big enough, healthy, and she can have him anytime and it would be fine. I feel like ever since then Mandy has been ready, once she passed the full term point she's been thinking and hoping it would come out any day. But the first ones usually hold out I hear so we will see... We've been taking long walks and doing whatever else we can think of that might make the little sucker come forth.

Other than that huge chunk of our lives... I drove to Prague Monday to interview with a software company, Bohemia Interactive Studios, who's software I had used a lot in Grafenwoehr and I have been communicating a lot with over the past few years with support issues, terrain questions etc. Well, the interview went really well and they offered me the job! I would be their technical trainer for Europe/database engineer. Pretty exciting. I would potentially be working from home and travelling to client sites and Prague to train people on their software. And they even said I could start whenever I want considering the baby is coming. So that's very exciting! That was the one job in my stash of hopefuls I had been excited about the most and it actually came through. Now we are just finalizing the contract and salary etc. But of course right after I got back from that, I got a call from NATO in Oberammergau to ask me to come in for an interview for an IT Specialist position I had applied for recently. When it rains it pours right? Although its hard to associate this with rain. More like when the sun shines, it shines bright! So I'm going to have a hard time deciding what to do now, supposing I get an offer from NATO. Maybe I won't and it will make it an easy choice.

Other than that, we've been biding our time. Taking long walks in the snow, which has turned to ice, when has then melted and then turned to snow and ice again. Sometimes I can't believe I'm taking my very pregnant wife out on these trails but we try to be very careful, and the pups insist she comes. Both Maple and Maya have been doing good, no more seizures and Maple's leg is slowly getting stronger and fuzzier. Since we've finally had some snow accumulation I've been skiing a bit, but not too much. I went a couple of days last week when there was still lots of powder but I'm sure its all skied off by now. Speaking of skiing, the Men's Alpine World Cup is here and the US ski team and Bode Miller all kinds of ski celebrities are in town. They were all at the Edelweiss signing autographs last night but we didn't go. We will probably go watch some of the races though, I think they start today. We could even watch them out of apartment window as we can see the slalom run which is strangely named "Kandahar" right from our house. With the telescope Jacob and Missy were so nice to loan us we could probably have a pretty good view. And speaking of that, I'm happy to say I got the last part, the dovetail plate which attached the scope to the mount and now have it fully assembled and am ready to view some heavenly bodies. Now if only the clouds would clear. Hopefully soon I'll have some celestial photos to post on here.

So we hope all is well with everyone else out there. We hope everyone is enjoying the new year in their respective parts of the world and all you Kentucky people are staying warm and safe in all that ice.

Hopefully soon we will be calling you or writing about a very important event! Keep your fingers crossed!

Up in the sun on the Wank, one of the peaks surrounding Garmisch. Often when Garmisch is cloudy, you can hike up one of the many trails in the area and be above the clouds in the sun. But it can be a long hike!

Garmisch at night. You can see the Olympic ski jump in the background and the prominent St. Martins Church, built in the 1730s.

Garmisch war memorial and view of city. Mandy playing with Maya on the wall on one of our cold dark walks. You can even see the ice.
